Talking with Christine Allen, the catharsis co-founder

the catharsis

Bridget Hess-Mahan interviews Christine Allen, co-founder of digital literary journal the catharsis. Allen discusses how online underground publishing has exploded in the last five years, thanks in part to how social media has made it easier to get the word out about new ventures. By day, Allen is also a creative associate and project manager at Providence Word & Thought Company, a two-person ghostwriting, editing, creative writing, and consulting firm.

About Bridget Hess-Mahan

Senior BFA Writing, Literature and Publishing major at Emerson College from Newton, MA, and currently residing in Cambridge, MA, until my commencement in May 2014. My three main things going in my life are quidditch, the you conference I am the chair of this year, and working two jobs. I am on Emerson's house league team The J.P. Jaguars, and on their eboard as Logistics Officer. This year, I am the co-chair of the Youth Empowerment and Spiritual heath (also known as YES), which takes place annually on Star Island, NH. I am a workstudy student worker at Emerson's Registrar's Office, and a theater staff member at the West Newton Cinema in Newton, MA. I have two loving parents; my father is a self-employed lawyer who is currently running for mayor of Newton (for fun, he claims), and my mother is a 5th grade science teacher in Arlington, MA. I have two younger siblings: an almost 20-year old brother who works at the local Trader Joe's and a sister who is a high school senior and who's interested in going to college to pursue engineering. My family and my conference are the loves of my life, and I don't know what I'd do without them. I also have three tattoos and can wiggle my ears.
